Please NBC, don’t cancel Life!

You know, a lot of network T.V. kinda sucks so when a decent show comes along that goes on the chopping block, it bums me out a bit. I started watching Life on NBC just because I happened to be watching NBC at 10pm ona Wednesday and it happened to be on. I didn’t plan on watching it, but I was taken in quite quickly. Season 1 was amusing but cut short due to the writers strike.  It was a quirky enough show that I decided to give it another look this year. 

Given the fact that Life started on a Friday night schedule had me concerned that NBC didn’t have high hopes for the show. Thankfully, NBC picked up a full season and moved the show back to Wednesday. So far this season, the writing and acting are so much better and the story lines are even quirkier. The show also go an addition humor boost with the addition of Donal Logue (a.k.a Jimmy the Cab Driver). The show has even got my wife hooked and it’s now DVR’d every week. Furthermore, I find myself watching Life episodes more than Heroes at the moment.

But now I hear that NBC is giving Jay Leno the 10pm time-slot for each day of the week. Unfortunately, Life  is one of those shows at risk in 2009, as are some other shows. Balls! Anyway, there’s certainly better things I can do than whine about a T.V. show, given the awesome weather we’ve been having here in the northeast.

  3. Typical NBC move. The network is dying and Jeffery Immelt sticks with the Zucker becuase he likes his cocky attitude. No wonder NBC ratings are in a death spiral. Life was absolutely my families favorite show. Never a weak episode. Great actors and great writers. What a shame.

    It’s the best show on TV or was.

    NBC execs are STUPID. THEY SHOULD CANCEL SOME OF THE STUPID TRASH THAT THEY HAVE, NOT INTELLIGENT DRAMA.

  13. This show is an intelligent for a change. The writing is excellent and every show is different while still having the underlying theme of Crews finding out who framed him.

    NBC needs to keep this show on standby. They gave it a terrible time slot on Fridays’ the second season initially. It’s 1st season was marred by the strike. I think this is one of NBC’s better shows bar none.

    Hopefully another network will pick it up like other good NBC shows like
    JAG, “The Pretender”, and now “Median”. CBS would have been better off with “Life” than “Medium”. If you like this show write in and try to save it. It would be a shame to end it now.

  15. This show is one of my families favorite and we are disappointed that it was cancelled. This show needs to come back. We don’t need Jay Leno every night I don’t care for him anyways. We don’t need all the talk shows they bore me. Bring back Life!!!

  17. This, besides Fringe and Burn Notice was the best show on TV besides NCIS, no wonder NBC is in the dumps. Develope a winning show, move it around so it can’t build the numbers it needs, get story lines established hand the hell out in a season ender where everyone will be on tenterhooks till the fall–and then break their contract with their viewers who remember when the letters stood for something. Cannards!

  23. I am really not surprised that NBC has cancelled on the best show they have aired in the last ten years. They have been doing this since the cancelled the original Star Trek series 1969. Whenever they get a good show going they cancel it. This happens all the time with them. NBC (Nothing But Commercials) also has habit of cutting large amounts of air time out of the show with commercials. This drives viewers to record the shows and fast forward through commercials. Thank god for Tivo! The worst part about that practice is the content of show suffers.

    The only shows I watch on NBC is Life, Heroes and Chuck. So we can all guess which shows they will be canceling next.

I dont about all you in internet land but TV sucks now. Everytime a truely good show comes on a supposed “Brain Trust” network exec goes and cancels it for some lame show. Who was the creative genius that decided to give Jay Leno an hour in primetime 5 days a week. Come on! Either stay at your current time or F****ing retire. Great shows like life get axed so this dip sh*t can have a show every day. The networks need to go back to the old days of programing when shows were actually given the time to develop and have a good run. Now I know their are some stinkers that I dont even know how they got green lit that need to be cancelled ie Knight Rider. Dont even get me started on that show. Messin with a classic. Hey USA want a winner pick up Life.

  33. I love Life, please don’t cancel it. OR, as some of the other complains have stated let CBS pick it up. It’s a great show and a little ‘different’. Keep the No’s coming and let NBC get it!

  43. I am another of the many who want to express my supreme disappointment in the cancellation of LIFE. I propose that it be pick up by cable (as was L & O, Criminal Intent). The program offered quirky characters with a wonderful cast of believable actors. There is a dearth of intelligent programming on television; the cancellation of LIFE has created a bigger whole. I, for one, will not be watching Leno.

  47. I really can’t wrap my head around the idea of Jay Leno 5 nights a week on nbc at 10:00. Who is going to bother with that. I will end up watching another network just for variety. And to cancel an interesting unique show like Life is unbelievable. It is always the one of a kind shows that get the boot.
