Verizon Sucks.

Moving sucks, but what sucks more is dealing with Verizon when you move. Recently my wife and I moved to a new location in the same town. At our old place we had phone and DSL service from Verizon. Verizon told us that both services would be active on our move in date. While phone service was active, DSL was certainly not. We got a call from a service rep. who was “pleased to inform me” that our “service-ready date” would be 2/9. We were told this on 1/31 and if this was anything like the last install, our DSL wouldn’t have been active until at least the 19th.

The best part about Verizon DSL is how they know they suck. They were all to prepared to offer us, without me complaining, the “we know we suck package” and offer us 2 months free plus $14 month for six months. Considering that we were delayed 3 weeks when we initially got the service back in July, and the fact that we were offline more that on back in December, I felt like i would be signing up for more headache. To make a long story short, we’re happy Comcast customers again. It took about two hours after hanging up from Verizon to get cable modem ( the rep apparently works really close by) and have it set up. How is it that Comcast can get you hooked up in matter of minutes once you have the hardware and Verizon takes weeks? How can Verizon even compete with that kind of instant gratification?

Either way, it’s good to ditch Verizon. I don’t particularly feel comfortable forking over cash to a company that would fuck over a bunch of folks who have put in their time.

  1. Hey, wanna get even with them for this agony….? I just noticed that here on this page are some google adwords links to verizon…they appear automatically as part of verizon’s ppc (pay per click) campaign. Verizon PAYs for every click they get through these links! So click each of the above links and you’ll cost them a few bucks! hehehehehehe

  3. YOU ARE SO CORRECT.. VERIZON REALLY SUCKS.. WE HAVE TV SERVICE, LAND AND 5 CELL PHONES, AND ALL OF THE ABOVE ROYALLY SUCKS. WE HAVE HAD TO BRING BACK 3 PHONES BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WORK. WE HAVE TO CALL EVERY WEEK ABOUT THE TV SERVICE GOING OFF AND WE LOOSE THE RECORDED PROGRAMS WE HAVE RECORDED WITH NO APPARENT REASON. THE DVR CONSTANTLY GOES OFF,WE HAVE TO UNPLUG,PLUG IN,UNPLUG AGAIN,CALL THE SERVICE NUMBER AND THEN WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO THAT VERY IRRITATING RECORDING,THEN WE HAVE TO WAIT FOREVER FOR A REAL PERSON. THE PERSON TAKES US THRU THE SAME THING WE GO THROUGH WITH THE RECORDED VOICE. WE ARE GIVEN ONE EXCUSE AFTER ANOTHER ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENNG AND WHY IT IS HAPPENING. YOU WOULD THINK THAT SINCE WE CALL JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEK,WE WOULD BE CREDITED FOR THE TIME THE SERVICES ARE NOT WORKING. THE RECORDING SAYS WE CAN GO ONLINE FOR HELP INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR HELP ON THE PHONE..THE ONLINE IS WORSE THAN WAITING ON THE PHONE, YOU “NEVER” GET THE ANSWER FOR THE QUESTIONS YOU NEED ANSWERED. YES, VERIZON SUCKS. I AM NOW WAITING 20 MINUTES FOR SOMEONE TO CALL ME BACK INSTEAD OF ME WAITING ON THE PHONE,SO FAR IT HAS BEEN ALMOST AN HOUR AND NO CALL BACK. GOD PLEASE GIVE ME STRENGTH TO CONTINUE TO DEAL WITH VERIZON

  5. Just signed up for the verizon triple play for 99 bucks a month. Sound like a good deal? HA! Don’t forget the set up fees, that are so high now that they spread them out over 3 months for my convenience. Have an unlisted number? HA! Go to google and type it in. Turns out that they sold it to everyone everywhere with address included. There’s another 5er per month. Need a box for your cable? Who the F doesn’t! get less than with an antenna without one. Another 5 bucks a month right there. Per TV! And lets not forget the taxes! No, they don’t have much control over them (gimmie a break), but you can be sure as the sun will come up tomorrow that for every dime the government squeezes out of them, they are turning around and finding new and exciting ways to squeeze it out of you. My bill lists something called ‘other charges’. You don’t even know what you’re paying for! But how could I not understand you might ask with such a simple bill that is miraculously kept under 5 TWO sided pages. But now I’m screwed for 2 years. And when were all these companies suddenly allowed to demand a fee for canceling their service because it sucks? Screw’em! I will cancel their service and pay their rape charge. Be about the same as a one month charge anyway. And yes, it is all my fault and I should get what I deserve. This is one of the biggest failures in the endless list of failures by a government that not only wants your money, but demands it by threats backed up by force, but does little if anything to EARN it, and will do nothing to help you if you need it. I say get rid of all of this technology shit now because when you get old, you’re going to need every cent you have when the government throws you away like garbarge. Oh but don’t worry, you may be able to rent a nice cardboard box with social security. You know, when it first came out, TV was a luxury item. Then that changed so everyone could afford it as it should be. Now it has gone back to being a luxury item which I can no longer afford let alone tolerate the absolute scumbags that whore it out. I think I will need every penny I have for gas and heating oil when Bush attacks Iran. (for my cardboard box)

  7. Nitemare from Hell. I can’t pay my bill online, or by phone. Here I have verizon fios, and nothing works to pay my bill but snail mail. I have also requested multiple times to put my name on the account and removed my late husbands. Still not fixed!

Right now, my daughter in NY (I am in Florida) is trying to pay my bill because I can’t. The phone pay doesn’t recognize my account. Last month I went to a verizon store, and they couldn’t pay either because they said the bill pay sight didn’t work.

I am going to switch to Bright House.

  17. rid yourself of verizon in 3 easy steps:

    1. get cable internet. it’s better than dsl anyways, and the install is usually more prompt.

    2. buy a Philips VOIP8411B. in fact, i’m buying them as gifts for family to get everyone off of verizon. vonage or whatever is good too, but i’ve had good quality with that philips phone and skype.

    3. call verizon and cancel. get a confirmation number and hope that they actually cancel your service. this is where i got stuck, i’m still being billed even though i’ve tried to cancel for months, it’s like they’re using aol’s tactics or something. i should start recording my calls to them…

  19. Here is a wonderful TRUE story about Verizon’s service. I had both local phone and DSL service for our home. I then called to cancel my DSL service since we were moving.
    1) I called Verizon on 7/11/07 and asked to cancel my DSL service. Philip stated that I would incur an early termination fee unless I waited until the 1 year mark (which was on 9/1/07). I told Philip to cancel the DSL effective 9/1/07 and to immediately cancel the local phone service (since the house was empty & was being sold)
    2) Philip said “no problem” and that I should receive a final bill after 9/1/07.
    3) 9/1/07 came & went, 10/1/07 came & went but then…
    4) On 11/1/07 I received a “need to pay $78” to Verizon notice but I should’ve have only owed $30.
    5) I called Verizon and asked what was going on. “Customer Service” (yeah right… not at Verizon) rep #1 stated I needed to talk w/ the billing department. This was after waiting 12 minutes to get through.
    6) Customer Service #2 person (in India?) said that he couldn’t do anything (and he couldn’t do anything except read whatever screen was flashing in front of him). I asked for his boss and got…
    7) Customer Service #3. She told me that my verizon phone service and DSL service were TWO different deparments (like I give a darn) and that the DSL department was “sending the bill to my phone number”. I asked her “what does it mean that you sent the bill to my phone number? Is that a person, an email, a physical address? What does that mean?” She stated again, again, and again that the bill went to my phone. I asked her “should I ask my phone if it received a bill… hey phone did you receive a bill?”. She still couldn’t get her through her Verizon brain that their DSL department had never contacted ME about any issue.
    8) So Rep #3 sent me to her boss (rep #4). Rep #4 again told me the same thing. That essentially my canceling the phone line had screwed up the DSL billing. So I asked her “do we need a teleconference with the DSL team, the phone team, and the billing team to fix this?” She said she couldn’t do anything & that the “bill had been sent to my phone number”. Oh joy! I had spent 75 minutes with Verizon’s finest. They couldn’t do a darn thing.
    Lessons learned:
    1) Verizon had NO record of my previous conversations. So I WASTED MY TIME cancelling my DSL service. Next time HAVE THEM SEND YOU CONFIRMATION!!!
    2) Verizon phone & DSL services don’t talk or work with each other.
    3) I spent 2 hours of my time (and I’m an hourly employee and hence lost more money from work than I could’ve got back from Verizon).
    4) VERIZON SUCKS

I will never, ever, contact Verizon Hell again for *anything*. long story short..tried to get lan service. they promised my new line would be active monday. monday comes. no line. i call them monday night. “oh your order was cancelled!”. why? they had no idea why it was cancelled. fast forwarding to friday..after *4* confirmation #s of which each time i called them, *they had no record of these #s*, i call to cancel service i never received. “no problem ” they say. OK..two weeks later i get billed for service i never had. i give them cancellation confirm #. of course again, they had no record of my cancellation but yet can bill me. I get ANOTHER cancel confirm #. AGAIN..im billed for service i never had. sent back the bill telling them to leave me alone. 3 months later i get a bill from collection agency. does it ever end??!!! I call verizon back. Surprisingly and luckily for me, i remembered the new phone # i was * supposed* to get and gave it to the rep who processed it all and sent a note to the collection agency to zero out my balance. One week later it was all gone. Here i am 3 months later and no contact from Verizon. I think..yes..I AM FREE OF THEM!
good riddance. what nerve some of their reps had. I told one guy…”i am the customer ” with point being without me he has no job. What does he say? ” i am the rep”. what a smart *ss. I guess their reps dont get any training in customer service. They_just_don’t_get_it.

My closest relative has been with Verizon for close to 2 decades and since being promoted (ie-working longer hours for less pay) he was blindly screwed over by the greedy corporate thieves at the top of VZ’s heirarchy. The scum sucking executives stole his pension (the pension that he was routinely promised to recieve for his first 15 years) and told him that he would not be allowed to retreat back to his old union position where he would still be eligible to receive a pension. If that was not bad enough, he was just notified this week that VZ has cut most management HMO plans for 2008 (zero notice) and is forcing him to a generic PPO that covers next to nothing and does not compare to his previous HMO. Next year is scary, because we could pay 10s of thousands of dollars if a traumatic injury occured in the family (our old plan covered everything). When he called to complain to the corporate benefits office-he was told that they were still allowing the union techs who work for him to remain in the plan. When he jokingly said that “maybe it is time for supervisors to unionize, because Verizon only targets the benefits of employees who are not protected by a union-he was told that that was a good way to lose his job-nice company. He is afraid to speak out himself, because the company has made it clear that they will terminate the employment of any managers who publicize the abuse. We are just one working class family without the means to fight this evil giant, but I just make sure that I tell everyone I know, how this company treats its employees. My hope is that if Verizon customers called and complained about the unethical treatment of VZ employees, maybe it would change. PS. If you want to know why you pay so much for your phone bills-google the NY Times Article on how the board of directors vote on Seidenberg’s bonus and how each member depends on Seidenberg for their paycheck. Maybe that is why he was receiving record bonuses when the company was losing money.

When you call them, the first thing they ask you is for your phone number. If you do not have a verizon phone then you will likely get shuffled around from rep to rep and put on endless hold. Also they give you the speed but don’t want you to actually use the bandwidth, they traffic shape and will cut you off if they detect torrent traffic, even if it’s legitimate. Over a year ago they mis-billed my account; after they caught the mistake my service was restored. (After hours and hours of getting shuffled around and getting disconnected) Then two weeks ago I woke up to check my email and found the service was off again. After several hours on the phone, I finally get told that the billing error had resurfaced; it would most likely take a month for fraud services to resolve the issue. No apologies for the mistake or the terrible service. I had to sign up for RR just to get service back and my home phone working again.

  29. I currently work at Verizon, but I am trying to get out. I used to work at Kodak where there was a genuine caring attitude about the customers. But Verizon does not give a damn about its customers. It is the greediest company that I know of. Where I live, it used to be GTE and the customer service was fair. But since GTE was taken over by Bell Atlantic and became Verizon, everything has changed for the worse.

The company doesn’t give a damn about its employees or its customers. There are employees, like myself, who do care about the customers and try to do everything we can to assist. All Verizon does is tell us that our productivity is too low and we are not good employees. My girlfriend (who also worked there) was a year away from retirement and they laid her off. Unless she can find another job within the company, she stands to lose about $80,000 on her retirement money (and guess what, most of the jobs happen to be “frozen” right now. I bet they are no longer frozen after she is officially off the books). I have been lied to by Supervisors and Managers. When I went to the Verizon “Ethics” line, all they did was side with the management. Verizon has no ethics at all; I can assure you all of that. Verizon is the worst in promoting by ass-kissing, not by qualifications. My department alone has at least a half dozen unqualified employees, who only have their positions because they have brown smeared all over their noses. It used to be that you had to be qualified to get a job. Not where I work. It is disgraceful and disgusting thing to see.

All Verizon cares about is making money. I would like to suggest that no one use any Verizon services (landline or cellular). I work on corrections of the fiber orders and all of the systems are crap. Many customers do not get their services on the scheduled date due to the many system issues. What’s worse is they have outsourced most of the IT work and have given away countless numbers of American jobs. When we are trying to get orders corrected, we usually have to wait a very long time for someone (usually in India) to make certain corrections. Verizon is a crap company with a crap attitude. I use my cable company (Bright House Networks) for landline, cable modem, and TV. My cell phone company is Alltel. I will NEVER use any Verizon services as long as I live and I think no one else should either. This is the only way to show greedy unethical companies like Verizon that they are not wanted.

  33. I bought this house 4 years ago and was surprised to see I had my own telephone pole in my back yard. It at that point had about 9 wires running to it from the pole across the street from my house. Two of them had been there so long, that they were embedded into the nearby trees. One was there so long that the tree branch grew AROUND the wire, then died and fell off, so there was a branch hanging in the air on a wire.

Over the last year, I have made attempts to remove said pole beause it is an eyesore.

The first call got a line guy out here and he removed 3 of the wires.
The second call (accompanied by a note tacked to the pole) got rid of the next three wires and the dead tree branch that was suspended in midair.

Then I got FIOS, what a great opportunity I thought to get the wire re-routed to the other side of the pole, hense making the pole useless so we can call to have it removed.. but oh no, we can’t put the wire over there, its too hard.

Fourth call through the tenth call were promises for a call back, but went unanswered.
On the eleventh call I happened to have a backhoe in my back yard, so I said “If you don’t come take down this pole, I will!!” Amazingly enough a guy showed up the next morning. He told me that if I built a mast and attached it to my house, they would come re-route the wire to the new mast. So we paid an electrician to come out and build the mast, and then called them again to reroute the wire.
That took another 6 phone calls until a tech came out 3 weeks later.

So now here I am with a pole in my back yard with three guide wires going to it. So I call.. and I call.. and again and again they promise to have someone call me back. I lost track of the phone calls, but I’m pretty sure it’s in the 30s.

So I called last week and flipped out and I finally got an escalation representative to call me back. He said he’d call dispatch in the morning and call me back the next day.. amazingly enough, he did.. but he left a message saying “we can’t remove the wires, there are live electrical wires on the pole.”

NO THERE ARE NOT. THERE ARE NO LIVE WIRES ON THE POLL. So I called again (31) and yelled at the poor call rep on the other line, she assured me she was “chatting” with a supervisor and someone would call me back.. YEAH RIGHT.

Phone call 32 I got a guy on the phone who took my number and said he was calling dispatch himself and he’d call me back. He did! Then he called back again to tell me that dispatch said the wires belonged to the power company. 32 phone calls?!?!? To say the wire isn’t yours???? I think not.

So I called the power company and they said someone would be out yesterday to remove the pole. Needless to say I can feel this turning into a big runaround.. So I came home today and was shocked to see that one of the wires had vanished.. Hmm, did hell freeze over? Did verizon come out and take down one of thier wires? I called the power company and they said they didn’t do it.. They also gave me a number to a Line Tech to call to get the pole out… A real guy, a real person, a non-800 number. I’m a little shocked and it’ll probably be another battle to get them out here, but anything less than 3 months and 32 phone calls will seem like childs play at this point.

Hey Verizon, you are a PHONE company.. how about returning a PHONE CALL once in a while. Thier customer service has to be the worst I’ve ever encountered in my life.

I probably don’t have to tell you that trying to call Verizon to cancel my DSL is hopeless. I think that they purposely keep you on hold, ringing through endless recordings, for eternity. So, since I haven’t been able to contact them to cancel the DSL, I cancelled the landline as well. Now that I have internet cable, who needs a landline. I’ll do fine with my cell (not Verizon).

  37. Well I never wanted a cell phone before because I always thought the service was greatly overpriced. But one day my son said I could get on his cell phone family plan which would be a lot cheaper…It was supposed to be $35 month and with the so called insurance another $5 and 350 minutes a month ..Well dam I said that is a pretty nice package I knew I would never use up 350 minutes and $40 is not bad also I got free activation and a free but outdated cell phone. No problem I only wanted phone service no text messaging or camera or internet access I have that already at home. So like a blind fool I sign up. Well the service was activated I got my cell phone pretty quick in the mail and everything was running smooth even customer support was pleasant at least for me it was. But then at the end of the month I got my first bill $173….!What! I didn’t even use a third of my minutes and yet my phone bill is $173 well all I got was a bill that said I owed a an immediate payment with no listing to show me what the charges was for so I had to call them to send me a bill which took about 7 days to arrive but by this time I had received another bill for $248 which was due at the end of the month …So now I have 2 bills way over what I though I was going to pay and still no listing.. And never mind the internet online account I could never get that to work and I know my way around computers been using them for 12yrs…could not get an account set up so I called them and said I need a list of charges before I pay anything. Finally the bill comes and I start to look it over and confusing is an understatement instead of a simple line item of charges
They have it arranged so you will be totally brain fucked..But I finally figured it out. and I was pretty fkn pissed besides what I knew I was going to pay they had added all kinds of Fucking surcharges for this and for that and then you had access fees and then the governments usual payola charges…anyway my monthly phone bill was going to be $85
Now that is double what the advertising was touting not to mention I have already paid for that free outdated phone…and greased the government coffers and now I owe my soul to verizon because by the time I realized I have been screwed in butt and didn’t even get a reach around… its to late to cancel.. So I went back to the same verizon website I signed up on and searched and searched to find those hidden charges and all I could find
Was a reference that there would be some surcharges but not how much they were now to the lame brained folks like myself surcharges seem like a gov tax but nooooo their not
Verizon is allowed to tap your wallet for this money and they put it in there pocket and do not tell you until its to late. Now is it me or do I smell a major fraud here if all the extra charges are also money they keep should it not be listed in the overall pricing of the cell phone plan…surcharges are there way of saying fuk you I own your dumbass now pay up or ill turn you in to the other organization(credit bureau) that Gestapo group that poses as a credit rating company that basically takes care of big brother and screws you in de butt..well hell with all of them I wont pay and they can turn me in all they want cause I have already been screwed by some credit card bastards and my name is already mudd..
So bring it on cant hurt me anymore.

BS! and isnt it convenient that there is no actual contact us thru email on the verizon.net website. oh you can send email and get a programmed response…but no one is actually reading it. I am cutting them off right after I take the time to use my static filled line phone to call them and let them know for the numerous time that I am not pleased.

  41. Verizon Wireless also sucks. Perhaps more.

From Wikipedia (I added the section about disabled GPS):

    Controversy
In mid-2006, the consumer research firm Telephia published a report that suggests Cingular Wireless drops the fewest calls across the country. Verizon Wireless advertises heavily the quality of their network above competitors. According to the Consumer Beat reporter for The Boston Globe:
Telephia independently measures the top four wireless carriers for a number of consumer value points. In relation to call quality, Telephia, in a letter to the four major carriers regarding this research, will not confirm or deny that Cingular drops the fewest calls. Also, Telephia has requested that Cingular update its advertising to indicate that Telephia provided the information it uses to make this claim, not that it actually supports or confirms the ‘fewest dropped calls’ claim.[6]

Verizon “cripples” the file and media transferring features of many of their cellphone offerings in order to force customers to purchase content through its “Get It Now” service. One example is the LG VX8500, a phone that features full MP3 player support. (It has a microSD card to store MP3s, and play and pause/stop buttons on the front of the phone.) Verizon initially modified the phone’s firmware to prevent MP3s from being used altogether. While newer phones were sold with the MP3 player re-enabled, and customers were usually informed of this feature, they still cannot be used as ringtones. The newest version of this phone has once again disabled this capability. Verizon’s policy is in contrast to its major competitors (both GSM and CDMA): Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint Nextel, and Alltel; which allow their customers to use all the features that are available in the manufacturer’s reference firmware design.[citation needed]
Verizon also deactivates the built-in GPS capabilities of many current phones and PDAs. For example, its recently introduced Blackberry 8830 has full GPS capabilities and the Blackberry Maps application which uses the GPS capability for tracking and navigation. Verizon has disabled the GPS, reportedly to sell subscription-based GPS services at a later date.
Verizon advertised the Motorola V710 as having full Bluetooth capability, when in reality it had no OBEX or OPP functions built in. After many complaints, a class action suit was filed for false advertising, not only for advertising missing capabilities, but also for telling customers who complained to Verizon that an update was coming out “in November.” The lawsuit was initiated in January of 2005 and settlement decision became final on March 20, 2006, with Verizon offering to qualified members of the class action suit (purchased a V710 BEFORE February 2, 2005) a $25 credit to all of its V710 customers, or the option to trade in the V710 for $200 or original purchase price and allow them to keep their phone number and service, or $200 or original purchase price and allow them to break their contract and discontinue service with Verizon (all after numerous paperwork loops). The settlement to the lawsuit did not directly address the V710’s restrictions. The same hardware crippling exists with Motorola’s successor to the V710, the E815, but unlike the V710, the E815 was marked clearly that OBEX and OPP was disabled. Additionally, through a seem edit, OBEX could be enabled on the 815, but not on the 710 (the Verizon e815 lacks the OPP profile altogether). Other carriers’ versions of the V710, while still possessing some restrictions to the Bluetooth functionality, are much less restrictive overall, allowing full use of the customer’s own MIDI and MP3 files for ringtones, etc.[citation needed]
Verizon makes heavy use of Qualcomm’s BREW technology, and uses it over Java in case of phones where both are an option. By using BREW (which is branded Get It Now), Verizon locks users into its own applications, making it impossible to install anything Verizon doesn’t offer. Programs such as the standard mail reader included in some phones were removed, forcing people to buy expensive mail readers from Get It Now. It is not uncommon for CDMA carriers to implement BREW. Most of the US CDMA carriers currently use BREW. Sprint Nextel is the main exception. They have opted for the Java interface.[citation needed]
Verizon Wireless has removed features in firmware updates for the Motorola V710 and several other newer phones for ringtone transfers, making it more difficult – but not impossible – to transfer MP3s from the phone’s microSD card. This update also disabled editing of the homepage field in WebSessions making it more difficult to use alternate WAP gateways. One result of this crippling has been a prominent network of “unofficial” web sites, documenting how to enable, access, or use hidden or crippled features. This often includes divulging service codes for new phone models, or homebrew software that can access otherwise hidden parts of the phone’s memory system.[citation needed]
Verizon Wireless has recently implemented a standard user interface across all handsets. Somewhat reminiscent of LG’s interface, this standard reduces support training costs. However, it has also anecdotally alienated many brand-loyal customers who find it not aesthetically pleasing, only minimally customizable, slower than the previous interface, and a hindrance to the functioning of several previously available phone features.[citation needed]
Verizon Wireless has come under fire by “power users” of its EV-DO wireless data network (called BroadbandAccess), for using language in its terms of service which heavily restricts what activities an EV-DO user can conduct even though the service is advertised as offering “Unlimited” data usage. The language in Verizon Wireless’ usage agreement states:
Unlimited NationalAccess/BroadbandAccess services cannot be used (1) for uploading, downloading or streaming of movies, music or games, (2) with server devices or with host computer applications, including, but not limited to, Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, Voice over IP (VoIP), automated machine-to-machine connections, or peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing, or (3) as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections… We reserve right to limit throughput or amount of data transferred, deny or terminate service, without notice, to anyone we believe is using NationalAccess or BroadbandAccess in any manner prohibited above or whose usage adversely impacts our network or service levels.[7]

To stem criticism of the above, Verizon Wireless now outright limits the “unlimited” use, by imposing a quota on “unlimited” use, and terminates customers who exceed it. According to The Washington Post,[8] Broadband Reports,[9] tech columnist Robert X. Cringely,[citation needed] many wireless industry “insider” news sites and blogs,[10][11][12] Verizon advertises “unlimited” broadband service but reserves the right to terminate anyone using more than 5 GB/month (166 MB/day) regardless of use or content transferred, with no difference between permitted web browsing, or prohibited uses, such as peer-to-peer file sharing). This is a quota of about 15 minutes of continuous data transmission time per day. A PBS investigator monitored his bandwidth during normal use and discovered it to be 184 MB/day[13].

  43. I was a verizon customer for last 6 years, i had both DSL and phone connection with Verizon
After i decided to move my service to my new house all hell broke loose

Call 1: verizon says there is an active phone line in the house and they cannot set up my connection. i tried hooking up the phone to all phone jacks , no dial tone.. active line.. my ass.

Call2 : i told verizon that there is no dial tone. the rep tells me that its not necessary that there be an active line and no dial tone. huh… ( who employed this person to begin with ), so i ask her, give me the phone num which is active and the company whom it belongs to , so that i can call them up and have them cancel that line… to which i get the response that , she cannot give that to me.. so i ask her what am i supposed to do next… to which she says.. call up you “lawyer” the “real estate broker” and have them call up the seller and so on and ….so forth.

Call3 : i once again call verizon explaning about the active phone line, i finaally get the number and the company . It was an ATT phone line which was disconnected as of Oct 38, 2006

Call4: i inform verizon about the line that was disconnected. to which the rep tells me to get a confirmation number from ATT about the cancellation,, now how the f..k is ATT supposed to give me a cancellation number to a line which was deactivated 6 months back

Call5: I tell Verizon that i cannot get a conf number from them, so the rep now tells me that they might have to rewire the jacks and its going to cost me a total of $300 to rewire all the jacks in my house… who do they think i am…???.. after some negotiations, they tell me that its possible to rewire my house from outside and then give me a next activation date

Call6 : A day after the new activation date.. my line is still not set up..i call Verizon up and cancel my order

    BOTTOM LINE …”VERIZON SUCKS”
