With the suprise final release of AspectJ 5 the other day, I put some extra effort in resolving some of my issues mentioned in my previous post. First of all, the updated AJDT plugin is a true gem. This plugin far exceeds the JBoss AOP plugin which is part of the JBoss IDE suite. The fact that the IDE identifies advised methods and types with both code-style and @AspectJ style development is truely awesome! It’s a huge productivity booster. With some extra research and tweaking, I got the Value Bean Aspect working under AspectJ 5. The end result is much more compact that the JBoss AOP version. I’ll post more info after the holidays, assuming of course Verizon can manage to keep my DSL line up 😦
